Random Thoughts

After my trip from Managaha, I've been thinking about a few things over and over and yet I still haven't gotten them out of my mind. Here they are:

1. Don't you ever wonder about something you are confused about or just couldn't understand why that person did that to you? And yet every time you try and talk to the person about it or even try and figure it out, nothing really comes out the way you want it to? Well I know I will still keep wondering about it and hopefully one day, I'll figure things out. And well, I guess it's true.. Somethings are just left unsaid.

2. Why are fake friends so fake? I know we may have something in the past, but we're over it right? Cause the way you act shows you are. Well wrong! I guess people just haven't grown up! If you don't like me, then fine! I don't care, but there's only one thing I ask. Don't be a coward and stop being so fake in front of my face!
If you say that everything is alright between us in front of my face then why go talk shit about me behind my back, right after saying that? If you are trying to be my friend and you are just talking about me because your friends dislike me too. Then you know what? Do us all a favor, and don't be my friend at all!

My voice sucks!

So if you guys haven't heard our PSAs on stations 101.1 and 103.9, here you go..
I really hate my voice!

Sami & I: Pick that up!

Rose, Ann, Hope, and Zoe: Beautify CNMI Song

Sami & I: Walk it, Don't drive it!

Mark, Litcelle, Craig, and Tristan: Protect the Turtles

Managaha Trip

When the bus finally came, we had to wait for Angelo and Bree at the dock. We were off on the 3:30pm boat! Yay, finally! Lol.

When we arrived on the island, we had to haul all our things to the camp site. We had a wagon full of things! Wow, for just 12 people we brought a lot of stuff, compared to the other group, they had 70 people! Aidai, we first timers! Lol.

Once we got to our camp site, we were to set up all the tents before going out to play. We set up 5 tents and only 2 tents were used! Haha. That's funny! Most of us slept on the beach, well I'll tell more about that later.

We got all the tents ready, so what's next? PLAY TIME! Haha. Well most of them played volleyball and Hope and I went swimming. Everyone joined us after the other team lost! Haha! Lol. When some of us got tired, we went back to camp to help make dinner. We are so cool, we ate dog and buns, chips, and cucumber and carrots with a dressing of tuna spread. Haha! Well, when it started to get darker and we were all digested. We brought out the marsh mallows, chocolate, and the crackers! SMORES TIME! It was fun, we all huddled by the fire and ate smores. YUMMY in MY TUMMY!

We all felt full, so I decided to go down to the beach, lay my towel on the sand and look at the ocean and the moon. Lucky us, we had a full moon. The moon was so bright, you didn't need to us a flashlight, that night was gorgeous. A couple of them joined me, then it was time to work again!

We went to the other side and down to the beach. We collected water from the ocean and dumped it into the aquarium to see if we could find some plankton or other little animals in the sea. We didn't find much plankton but we found some other creatures. I forgot what they were. Anyway, everyone kept on asking if they could go and play beach volleyball. I think Mrs. Bree got annoyed, so after we collected all the water/creatures we wanted she asked each and everyone of them questions to answer. If they got it right, then they get to play! I'm not a volleyball person, so I decided not to play. I just sat on the sand, watched the ocean, sit next to Angelo and Bree, and pour sand on Angelo's arm! :D.

When they got back from playing, Litcelle and I buried Angelo! He got sand in his ear and belly button. && I tickled him, which made everything seem much more funny! Hehe.

We buried Hope too!

We went back to the camp site. A few people ate more smores and some just spotted while Madisa was giving me a back massage! We started hearing baby cries, which were coming from those Shear water birds. Anyway, Angelo and the boys were thinking of tying traps for people to trip on. Whoops, I mean Craig did but Angelo gave him the idea! So i decided to follow but Angelo was actually looking if he could find those birds. We had no luck, so we decided to walk around the island. Angelo scared those people when he pointed to the tree and said, "Do you see that lady?". Madisa jumped on me, it was funny! When we were in the other side of the island, we sat down on the sand, looked up on the moon, and talked.

We wanted to see the stars so we went to the other side, the flat sandy area. We sat down again and I started pouring sand on Angelo again! Haha. So yes, it is true. Every time we sit down on the sand, I start pouring sand on Angelo. Well hey! Boredom kills! Lol.

When Angelo said he was going to sleep on the beach, we thought, hey that sounds good. So we got our sleeping bags and some chow. We laid down, talked, then later on. I feel asleep next to Angelo, some were on the other side of him, then some of them stayed awake. I woke up a few times when I heard Sami talking on the phone at 2 o'clock in the morning! I felt myself shivering and I saw that Angelo had put his towels over me because I was so cold! Thanks Angelo! Really, that was so weird, I tried so hard to stop shivering but I just couldn't! Wow. Island girl finally got a little taste of cold weather! Lol. So I slept at 1:30, on and off because of those people that kept talking. I think they slept at 4am because that's when I stop hearing Sami talking on the phone. Everyone slept except for Craig and James. They were wondering around looking for those birds and making so much noise at the camp site.

Maddie just couldn't sleep any where without Hairy Harry!

When we woke up, it was around 5 or 6 am. The sun was rising, it was beautiful. So we all got up, laughed about what happened that night and then got all our stuff and went to the camp site. Angelo and Litcelle didn't help! Lol. Anyway, when we got back to the camp site, no one was out yet, until we made so much noise, Bree and Hope woke up. We told them the things that happen then ate a little or i mean, i did.

After we ate, we cleaned up, got all our stuff together and put them on the wagon to pull up on the dock. When we got done with that, we went out swimming again! My third time! Lol. We swam, took some pictures, and talked. Some of us went to play volleyball. When we got tired of the hot sun, we decided to clean ourselves up and wait for the boat to come.

While we were waiting, it started to rain and all our stuff got wet. When we were on the boat, I was just thinking about all the things we had done in the past week and I didn't want it to end! I was having so much fun! Aw, I'm going to miss that one week of fun. Hey Bree, maybe next year, it could be two weeks? Hehe.

Well in the end..

I wasn't too happy to leave Managaha.
See the sad face?

Well, I guess my job here is done. I had a lot of fun with everyone! Thanks to all the people that helped make the camp happen, especially Bree and Angelo! Hopefully, next year again! Take care.

Freaky Friday

No, nothing was freaky about Friday but it sure was a lot of fun!

In the morning, we all met up at Hopwood to get a ride on a Tasi Tour bus. We went to American Memorial Park Museum. We explored around the museum, then we met Ranger Nancy. She is the ranger of the park! She talked about us about how AMP is our park and some safety tips.

We went out close to the pavilions and found a good spot where we could plant trees, flame trees. Trees were from Brad, the same guy that taught us the right way to plant a tree on the first day of camp. Thanks!

We also met up with Cinta, Gus, and other Beautify CNMI friends. We gave Cinta our coral reef models that we made from camp! She says she's going to display it somewhere around for people to see. Yay!

After successfully planting all those trees, we went back to the museum and ate lunch. We relaxed in the theater and just waiting until it was time for us to go to the dock for Managaha..

Oh yeah, and we got bags, stickers, and shirts. Thanks Lolo!

Si Lolo

Angelo O'Connor Villagomez! YOU SUCK! Eh, I'm just kidding! He's a pretty cool guy. Sometimes I wonder, how the heck does this guy work so much and yet do many other extra things for the community? Relax bro. No, kidding! Keep up the good work.

Anyway, I just wanted to share with the whole world our little joke about Angelo.

If you ever see Angelo in person ask him to say "tour" to you. He says it in a funny way! Lol. Listen carefully and you'll know what I mean.

Angelo, say tour! It's pronounced "too.r". Alright, don't get mad! I'm just teasing!

One more thing, Angelo likes pirates and midgets!
He used to tease me "midget", I guess he forgot about it now!

Anyway, take care Mr. Irish Man Par!

Bloggers in Saipan

Last night, I went to my first ever blogger meeting at Java Joes. I was surprised at how many people in the island blog! Thanks to Angelo! He introduced me and other people in Saipan to start a blog site! Honestly, it was so cool! It was super fun! And I got to catch up on my commenting on myspace! I haven't really been online and when I am, I'm usually posting a blog! I've become a blogger addict! Oh no, I don't wana be like Angelo! Haha, kidding! But hey, it's cool blogging! I'm trying to get my friends to start one, but you know teenagers! Lol.

Some pictures I found browsing around:

I saw EJ again, YAY!

Day Four of BCMCSC

This morning, around 7am Bree, Angelo, Sami, and Zoe were on air at the 103.9 station to talk about our Summer Camp. I didn't get a chance to listen to them but I heard that they did great! Good job guys! Good way to represent!

When it was around 8 we all met up at the radio station for all of us to record our PSAs we made. Sami and I did a skit on D.R.I.V.E. and Littering. Mark, Litcelle, Craig, and Tristan talked about the Coral Reefs and Turtle. The most unique group was with Rose, Ann, Hope, and Zoe, they sang a song they originally made up with their own words about Beautify CNMI. I had to help them out because they weren't ready! Don't worry, it's okay! I was happy to help. While recording, I was nervous and I hated how my voice sounded like! GRR! But overall it was so fun!

After the radio station we went back to Hopwood to finish up our two experiments on the waste water and our coral reef models. We got out water clear and to a pH of neutral. We finished up our beautiful model and wrote a description about it!

Thanks to Tan Holdings we had free food from Shirley's. Angelo said it was worth $100? Wow, cool. Yummy food, I love french fries!

When we finished chowing we played two games then we were off to the CUC Lab..

Here we are:

I love this picture! One group (our group) looks retarded, the other group looks like tourist, and the other one look like cute little girls! Haha!

Oh yeah, thanks Tasi Tours for the transportation today!

Well, I'd say that today has been my favorite day of camp! Tomorrow we're going tree planting and camp out at Managaha! Yay! More fun! I wish camp didn't have to end so soon! I'm having so much fun! And I met cool new people, such as: Hope!

HAHA, love you Hope! :P

Pictures from BCMCSC!

I didn't notice that our camp name was so long until today. BCMCSC stands for Beautify CNMI Micronesia Summer Camp.. Notice the Cs? Lol.

Anyway, since I don't have a camera, I LOVE stealing pictures from Angelo! Haha.

Well here they are:

Day One:

Kathy Yuknavag giving us a lecture on the Micronesia Challenge

Brad Doerr teaching us the proper way of tree planting.

Everyone's getting ready for me to start playing boffer tag! I'm pro!

Day Two:

Here's everyone that went to the DFW workshop on tuesday at P.I.C.
Whoops, Angelo isn't in it! FIRST TIME! Lol.

Dirty Three.

MC Camp today was fun! We had people from Fish and Wildlife come to present us with the brown tree snake. Yay! I got to see Maddie again after three days of not seeing her! Lol. Well her mom works for DFW so she was there to talk about the brown tree snake. The thing that was really cool about today was that I got to hold the snake! It was wrapped around my arm! It was soo cool. I haven't done that since elementary! Lol.

DFW brought one of their snake sniffing dogs and they showed the dog sniffing the containers to smell if there is a brown tree snake in it. It was so cool because the dog really did good. It sat down when it sense the snake. They asked a volunteer to rearrange the containers, so I volunteered. I made it the last container and the dog did the same thing as it did the first time. It was so cool! Plus, I got to see Jack, Madisa's dog. He's a wild thing.

Today, we also practiced our PSAs that we made the day before. Sami and I wrote PSAs about Littering and the "Walk it, Don't Drive it", D.R.I.V.E. Some of us are going to the radio station tomorrow to cast our PSAs on air. Now that's going to be cool.

We started doing these models of different types of coral reefs. Sami, Hope, and I are doing a model of a fringe coral reef, I had fun. We played with clay and some pasta! Tomorrow we will continue doing that and hopefully present them somewhere out in the public.

The last activity that we did was on water waste. We were given a cup of waste water and we were to make that water clear by using a few materials such as a funnel, paper towel, cotten balls, sand, baking soda, etc.

Today was really cool!

Who loves me?

Okay, I love my blog site but I would really love it even more if I have pictures to share with you guys. Well, I had a digital camera in the beginning of the school year but my brother forced me to make him borrow it. For one week, it went on.. the punching, the hitting, the screaming at my face. It was so annoying I just had to give it. So I did, I sort of forgot about it for a few days, then I wanted it back. I asked my brother and he said he doesn't have it. It took me a few days until I found out that someone had stole it from his back pack at school. What a dumb ass! I knew I didn't trust him and yet he is so careless to leave his bag around for someone to take it? He is such an IDIOT!

Well my question is.. Who wants to buy me a digi cam for me? Let's just say, an early birthday present for my birthday that's coming up on August 26? Come on, who loves me? Hehe!

Day two.

Mironesia Challenge Camp Day Two.
So today was very long, very cold, very interesting, and yet everytime I try to listen really carefully, my mind wonders around and think about something else but overall it was good. We went to P.I.C. for a Workshop on Traditional Fishing Techniques. We had four lecturers for the day: Stan Taisakan, Lino M. Olopai, Dr. Teny Topalian, and Noel B. Guitugua.

Stan Taisakan talked about canoe building. He told us all the different techniques on the "Achuman". He taught us the right way to building a right canoe and the right timing to go out and use it. I don't remember much because I wasn't there for most of the presentation.

Lino M. Olopai, I have been to his presentations before but once again, Mr. Olopai had something even more exciting to share with us. We sat through his "first ever slide show" on traditional fish traps and their uses and taboos. He showed about 6 different types of fishing traps, which are used for different kinds of fishes, from big to small. He also talked more about Canoe, so I guess I caught up on some of Mr. Taisakan's lectures.

Dr. Teny Topalian, for her lecture she talked us through it. She talked about preserving marine biodiversity and cultural diversity, main topic--Corals. I sort of knew about mostly all she was talking about because I did a project on Corals for my Micronesia Challenge Project for school and I got most of those down. She was going a little too fast with her lecture, so I couldn't really keep up and it was kind of boring.

Lastly, Noel B. Quitugua, his presentation was on traditional tools and fishing implements. He showed us the different types of tools they use to fish and the different techniques they use for them. Those tools were cool, I like the shell bait looking one.

So thus concludes my day at camp. Tomorrow we will be at Hopwood for the day, doing some cool activities, experiments, and I'm guessing another presentation? Well, we'll have to see. Hey can someone send me the group picture we took at the workshop? Thanks.

Micronesia Challenge Camp

Today was the first day of camp. Just for fun, I think I'll name the people that were at camp today. Me, Sami, Jackie, Rose, Litcelle, Glory, Zoe, Tristan, Craig, James, Doug, Bree, and Angelo. Today we had two presentations today. A presentation from Kathy V., who presented sides about the Micronesia Challenge and Forest Resources, also a presentation on the "Walk it, Don't Drive it". Our other presentation was by Brad, he taught us the proper ways of planting a tree.

Camp today was nice. I had my fun moments and my boring/tired moments. I'm hoping tomorrow will be a better day. Tomorrow we are going to P.I.C. for a workshop. The presenters will be people from Fish and Wildlife.

..Lo, Don't worry! I'm still your friend! :)

Wanna be..

So this summer I've been thinking about things I'm good and sort of thinking about what to be in the future. I know I maybe young, but it isn't bad to think about the future right? Well the whole high school thing has got me caught up to thinking about my future. I mean, two years in junior high was like a wake up call, for me to realize that I've gotta grow up and start being mature about my actions. Now four years of high school is coming, what is there to expect? Should I get myself ready or simply sit back and wait.. Expect the unexpected..

I've been thinking about few careers that I might wanna consider being in the future:

Hehe, Well there you go.. Hey, it's the thought that counts right? Lol.

I miss him already!

I don't know how much I can thank this guy for all that he has done. He has made me so happy for the past weeks and also the beginning of my summer. I think he deserves a spot in my blog. His name is Ervin Villegas but people call him Clyde or ClydeO. We met a couple of times in the past and yet just knew each other by appearance. Then there was that party where we saw each other, he sang to me, I gave him a thank you hug. A few days would go by and I thought of texting him. We made plans to go to the street market together, we saw each other, we hugged each other, and I felt shy. I guess I was shy because I knew I liked him, then towards the night, I losen up and we had a good time. We played pool that night with our friends Madisa and Tony. We had a really good time. I won't forget those piggy back rides Clyde! Thanks :).

We had some few other nights together and they were fun, nothing bad though. I guess our time together was spent well. I won't forget that night when we rode the octopus together and my face looked like bleh! LOL, and the time when we were walking by the beach and just dancing around! I had a lot of fun with you and I know I won't ever forget you.

Clyde left at a 5:30 p.m. flight to Kentucky. I really miss him and I hope he had a good flight! Him and I will always be life long friends! Once again, thanks for the memories!

This is just a pic. from the last night we were together! I won't forget that night! It was soo fun!

Get Wild Summer Camp

Do you live in Saipan? If you do, then you know how the economy and environment is. I’m pretty sure that you don’t like how it’s looking right now, am I right? Don’t you ever feel like you should do something about it? But was just afraid because you think just because you are young that people won’t listen to you? Well here is your chance; Hopwood Jr. High School’s Student Action for a Viable Environment (S.A.V.E) Club is opening their club to an island wide environmental club. Where you will be recognized, teamed up with Beautify CNMI, do really cool projects, and go to field trips around the island.

Why join? Because like myself, I hate how the adults don’t open up their eyes and see what’s happening to our environment. I want to make a difference and make Saipan a much more healthy and beautiful looking island. While I’m still living here, why not doing something about the problems then complaining about it, right? So if you hate how things are going in the island and want to do something about it, this is the club to join. Don’t be afraid, this club has been going on for 1 year now and we have accomplished so many and done a lot.

Our club will be starting in the end of June from the 25th to the 30th. The club will be meeting at Hopwood Junior High School, Room D4. Our lovely adviser is Hopwood’s Team E science teacher Mrs. Bree Reynolds. We will be meeting from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Permission Slips will be given on the first day of camp.

We will not be in the classroom during the whole camp. We have some special dates plan, they are:

-June 26: P.I.C. Workshop with Fish & Wildlife
-June 29: Service Project at American Memorial Park
-June 29-30: A possible Campout at Managaha

I hope you consider joining our club. This is your opportunity to get wild, dirty, and involved during the summer!

Thank you,
Mylene Marie Balisalisa
S.A.V.E. Club President

summer `07

Summer 2007. This summer feels a lot different from last year. Okay, so since I haven't been writing much blogs, I'll write a few random things about the beginning of my summer and then again in the end.. So here you go:

1. Summer has been a bit boring!

2. So many of my friends are going offisland: Megan, Jessica, Clyde, Nakita, Madelyn, James, Ashley, Michelle, etc.. I'm gona miss all of them.

4. I almost had a boyfriend this summer but sadly, he is moving to Kentucky.

5. I feel like I lost my bestfriend/cousin.

6. I've been to the carnival 4 times so far, I'm planning on going to more.

7. I've become really lazy and so tired lazy, I want to work out again.

8. I think I gained weight!

9. I've been having mood swings lately.

10. I'm actually feeling a bit nervous for high school.

10 random things.. I'll add more if I think of anything else.. =)

Expect the unexpected

On Thursday, May 31, Hopwood's Team E students went to P.I.C. for a HIV presentation/workshop. We learn so many things from, sex and there consequences, drunk driving, and the many choices you have to make in life. During the workshop, Mama Shar read a poem to us about drunk driving.. It sadden me, I cried with grief.

Why should someone suffer something really bad when all they did was good? Is life just too unfair that things happen for no reason? It goes to show that, life is short. You never know what will be expected until it happens. You will do as much, even though you know it's good or wrong, so i suggest to life strong.

Here is the poem that Mama Shar read to us:
I Went to a Party Mom

I went to a party, Mom,
I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mom,
So I drank soda instead.
I really felt proud inside, Mom,
The way you said I would.
I didn't drink and drive, Mom,
Even though the others said I should.
I know I did the right thing, Mom,
I know you are always right.
Now the party is finally ending, Mom,
As everyone is driving out of sight.
As I got into my car, Mom,
I knew I'd get home in one piece.
Because of the way you raised me,
So responsible and sweet.

I started to drive away, Mom,
But as I pulled out into the road,
The other car didn't see me, Mom,
And hit me like a load.
As I lay there on the pavement, Mom,
I hear the policeman say,
"The other guy is drunk," Mom,
And now I'm the one who will pay.
I'm lying here dying, Mom....
I wish you'd get here soon.
How could this happen to me, Mom?
My life just burst like a balloon.
There is blood all around me, Mom,
And most of it is mine.
I hear the medic say, Mom,
I'll die in a short time.

I just wanted to tell you, Mom,
I swear I didn't drink.
It was the others, Mom.
The others didn't think.
He was probably at the same party as I.
The only difference is, he drank
And I will die.

Why do people drink, Mom?
It can ruin your whole life.
I'm feeling sharp pains now.
Pains just like a knife.
The guy who hit me is walking, Mom,
And I don't think it's fair.
I'm lying here dying
And all he can do is stare.

Tell my brother not to cry, Mom.
Tell Daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven, Mom,
Put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave.
Someone should have told him, Mom,
Not to drink and drive.
If only they had told him, Mom,
I would still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter, Mom.
I'm becoming very scared.
Please don't cry for me, Mom.
When I needed you,
you were always there.
I have one last question, Mom.
Before I say good bye.
I didn't drink and drive,
So why am I the one to die?
